Showing Lube Some Love
by Briana Harry
For a lot of people with vaginas, the discussion of incorporating lubricants to our sex routine can be a touchy subject. For many, the mention of lube has come up in alignment with shame. As if the body is not doing what it is meant to do, but that is not always the case. In fact, there are many reasons that people turn to lube regardless of age and many other factors.
It’s important to note, of course, that under “normal” conditions, genuine arousal is the catalyst for a smooth entry into vaginal intercourse. However, there are many reasons for occasional vaginal dryness, and they all don’t have to result in abstaining from sex altogether. Lubricant is literally made for this. As long as you have an understanding with your doctor that you are not creating harm, it’s important to release the shame around using lubricant if it will be a positive addition to your sex life.
Not only is lube necessary at times, but it can be very enjoyable to use every time. With its many forms and types, anyone can become a lube connoisseur, using different lubes for different moments. Don’t be shy about finding the ones that work best for you and your partner(s).
Pro tip: be on the lookout for RootedSol’s Suppositories. With the main ingredient of coconut oil, it makes for a silky, healthy addition to any form of sex.
